The role:
We are looking for a top notch experienced Cloud Engineer geared towards working with AWS, GCP, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
You build real products in the real world. You understand that off the shelf solutions vs building them yourself have tradeoffs and when to make the right decision. You have the ability to mentor junior engineers, and understand tradeoffs for scale, elegance of solution and time. You may have a preferred programming language but you’re not afraid to tackle problems in other languages you’ve never used before. You love the fact that code is continuously tested and released for fast feedback. You are great at communicating and making sure decisions are made that satisfy multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities and duties:
● Maintain and implement our cloud native infrastructure that runs all of our production systems. Utilizing industry best practices and Infrastructure as Code.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or equivalent study.
● 3+ years experience in a SRE or equivalent role.
● Deep understanding of AWS or GCP cloud systems.
● Detailed understanding of implementing infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
● Comfortable with Agile methodologies.
● Familiarity with Linux.
● Experience with containerization and/or container orchestration platforms (GKE or EKS)
● Ability to code at least on one programing language.
● Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
Professional Skills:
● Ability to implement IaC with repeatable methodology.
● Familiar with two distros. Basic troubleshooting ability.
● Good knowledge of network and deployment.
● Familiar with multiple AWS native systems.
● Familiar with containerized best practices.
● Medium level coding ability with at least one language.
● Familiar with at least two languages.
● Ability to automate small tasks.
● Be present in remote team huddle.
● Understand higher system designs.
● Ability to resolve issues that occur.
● Offer small improvement changes to your direct manager.
● Ability to take specific tasks and act on them with some support from team.
● Work with manager to define project requirements.
● Leverage manager to work with remote teams.
● Read documentation from other team members and only request help on specific issues.
Nice to have:
● AWS or GCP certifications.
● Experience in both AWS and GCP.
● Experience automating manual tasks.
