We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to take complete ownership of critical components of our platform, including our Event Management, Lobby, IRL, and Jobseeker systems.
This is a role for a true senior engineer—someone who thrives on autonomy, ramps up quickly, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously. You won’t just write code; you will take initiative, manage your own deployments, handle ambiguity, and push features to production without needing hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
●Backend Development: Build and maintain high-performance backends for Event Management and Lobby systems, primarily using Java/Spring Boot, with secondary support in Django/Python.
●Frontend Development: Develop and optimize user-facing applications using React across multiple frontends (Event Management, Lobby, IRL, and Jobseeker).
●Data & Architecture: Work with Kafka for event-driven backend architecture, implement GraphQL APIs, and manage data layers using SQL or MongoDB.
●End-to-End Ownership: Take full responsibility for the build and deployment lifecycle. You will own your tasks from conception to merging and production deployment.
●Data-Driven Troubleshooting: Use data and analytics proactively to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues.
Must Haves
●5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
● Primary Backend: Strong expertise in Java / Spring Boot (Event Management & Lobby backends).
● Secondary Backend: Proficiency or solid experience with Django / Python.
● Frontend: Strong experience with React building complex frontends.
●Data & Messaging: Hands-on experience with Kafka, GraphQL, and databases (SQL or MongoDB).
● Data Tools: Experience with at least one of the following: Dagster, Data Lakes, or Amazon Athena.
● DevOps: Proven experience with modern build and deployment workflows.
● High Autonomy: A self-starter capable of working independently and taking initiative rather than waiting for instructions.
● Fast Learner: Ability to ramp up quickly in a fast-paced environment and assume ownership over multiple projects.
● Dealing with Ambiguity: Comfortable navigating ambiguous requirements and turning them into strategic, actionable engineering solutions.
● Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
Nice to Haves
●Product Mindset: Previous experience acting as a Product Manager or working closely with Go-To-Market (GTM) teams to help prioritize engineering roadmaps.
● AI-Assisted Development: Experience leveraging modern AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Windsurf) to accelerate development and efficiency.
●Strong strategic thinking and prioritization skills.
